If you are visiting Paris, and you are not aware of the current weather and flood situation, then you must read this liao. According to the local news on 25th January 2018, the water level in Paris is still rising and expected to reach 6.1m or even surpass the Paris flood level in 2016.

So this is our travel tips on the Paris Flood 2018.

Updates:

29 Jan 2018: The Seine river is expected to peak today, rising 5.84m on Monday morning. 

So how high or how jialat is that? 

In Paris, they always use this Zouave statue as a gauge to the water level.

So how does that affect the tourist?

Of course! The rising water will have some effects on transportation, attractions around the area.

Transportation

Because of the rising water, the RER C which is the Yellow Regional Train will suspend operations till 31st January 2018:

  • Javel to Gare D'Austerlitz
  • Avenue Henri Martin to Gare D'Austerlitz

Attractions that are affected

Popular Destinations Along RER Paris Train C (with station names in brackets) in and around Paris:

  • Notre Dame Cathedral (St-Michel Notre Dame)
  • Orsay Museum (MusĂ©e d’Orsay)
  • Eiffel Tower (Champ de Mars/Tour Eiffel)
  • Palace of Versailles (Versailles Rive-Gauche)

Here are the Metro that you can take.

  • Solferino on line 12

Eiffel Tower

Only the RER C line is affected, but you still can take Metro and alight near Eiffel Tower.

  • Ecole Militaire on Line 8
  • Bir-Hakeim on Line 6.

Palace Versailles

​Mainly if you are going to Palace Versailles, you will be affected because the rest are still in Paris zone where you can take the Metro.

The only 2 ways are getting there - a taxi there or get a bus there.

You can book a bus transfer here.

The Louvre

Don't worry on the Louvre, it will still be open except for the lower level of the Department of Islamic Art will remain closed till 29 January 2018.

The rest of the museum will open and close as usual. You will still get to see your Mona Lisa.

River Cruise at River Seine

This one if you book in advanced, then cannot cancel. Then you GG already. You have to check with the tour operator do they allow refund anot.

Because all river traffic activities and tours will be suspended.

So, if I coming from Airport, will I be affected.

You will be affected for sure if you are staying near these places. But, from Airport you will be taking the RER B and have to change to the Metro to get to your destination.

Do add 20 mins - 30 mins of your travelling time, because the area around the river will be congested and Metros will be running slower as well.

Then I need to bring umbrella?

What are you thinking? If it is raining, then you bring lah. No rain, you bring for what.

How about rubber boots?

No need lah, unless you want to go catch fish.

Will my shopping for Chanel and LV be affected?

Nope, in fact the shopping mall may be crowded, because all human traffic diverted inland. So your Galeries Lafayette will be flooded - but with people.
