What to expect at Sacré-Cœur, Paris (Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris)

According to Trip advisor, this is the #13 on the things to do list when visiting Paris. The Sacré-Cœur, Paris (Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris).

You will probably be spending at least 2 hours there. As alighting from the train station, you will need to walk probably 15 mins to the bottom of the stairs and climbing up takes another 10-15min depending on your pace. But you will definitely be awe by the magnificent view and the crowd there.

Location: 35 Rue du Chevalier de la Barre, 75018 Paris, France

Nearest Train Station:
Jules Joffrin (M° 12) + Montmartrobus (Place du Tertre stop)
Pigalle (M° 12, M° 2) + Montmartrobus (Norvins stop)
Anvers (M° 2) + Cable car (métro ticket) or steps
Abbesses (M° 12) + Cable car (métro ticket) or steps

One way cable car tickets cost one metro ticket (which is €1.80). Takes you up without climbing the steep steps. For us, we are not aware and took the stairs up. We didn’t visit the dome as there was insufficient time and our legs are aching after climbing up to The Basilica.

More Information:

  • The Basilica is open every day from 6a.m. to 10.30p.m. Entrance is free. Reservation is not needed for group visits.
  • Access to the Dome is outside the Basilica on the left. Warning: there are 300 steps to climb and no lift! Opening hours: Every day from 8.30a.m. to 8p.m. (May to September) and 9a.m. to 5p.m. (October to April). These times are subject to change and can vary according to the weather. Admission charge: There are various rates to access the Dome.  Please ask for further information.

There are probably more than 8 of these along the streets of Rue de Steinkerque

While on the way down, we witness alot of interesting stuffs. Probably half of the scams you can encounter in Paris or Europe. Crowded areas, pickpocketing, and we even witness a snatch thief in operation!

Better be vigilant of your belongings!

Voila!
